What We Do

USRCA, a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit, created Real Industry to educate students on the needs and roles of companies.

Our first courses, Real Industry: Inside the Music and Video Technology Industry and Stanford University: Careers in Media Technology, give students a behind the scenes introduction to the roles, responsibilities, and processes of the music and video consumer tech industry. By providing an online community through which to learn from and communicate with industry mentors, we connect students directly to industry. Our course also works to place students directly into internships at leading media creation and technology companies.

USRCA was founded in 2013 by Errol Arkilic, one of the founders of the NSF Innovation Corps (I-Corps). USRCA was created to increase the impact of research by supporting the translation of the research into products and services that benefit society.

In 2014, Jay LeBoeuf became Executive Director and expanded the mission of USRCA to provide industry education to students. Jay is a technology executive, entrepreneur, and adjunct lecturer at Stanford University. He has experience in business and technology roles, a rich network of industry connections, and has catalyzed a volunteer network from the leading companies in the audio and video technology space.
